  • Makes 4 servings

  1. 1 pound Ground Beef (95% lean)
  2. 1/4 cup soft whole wheat bread crumbs

  4. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  6. 4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split
Sesame-Soy Mayonnaise:
  1. 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
  2. 1 tablespoon thinly sliced green onion, green part only
  3. 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  4. 1/4 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  5. 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
Slaw Topping:
  1. 1/2 cup romaine lettuce, thinly sliced
  2. 1/4 cup shredded red cabbage
  3. 1/4 cup shredded carrot
  4. 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  5. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  1. Combine Sesame-Soy Mayonnaise ingredients in small bowl; refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Combine Slaw Topping ingredients in small bowl, set aside.
  3. Combine Ground Beef, bread crumbs, egg white, salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into four 1/2-inch thick patties.
  4. Place patties on grid over medium ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 8 to 10 minutes (over medium heat on preheated gas grill, 7 to 9 minutes), until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160°F, turning occasionally. About 2 minutes before burgers are done, place buns, cut sides down, on grid. Grill until lightly toasted.
  5. Spread equal amount of mayonnaise on bottom of each bun, top with burger. Evenly divide Slaw Topping over burgers. Close sandwiches.

A very good burger with just the right touch of Asian flavors. Loved the Sesame Soy Mayo and the Slaw Topping. A new but delicious way to enjoy a burger.

I like my burgers to be pretty simple, but for a more elaborate burger, this was fantastic! I didn't do the shredded carrots, but other than that followed the recipe exactly. Delicious!

Great fresh take on your average burger! Loved the slaw topping!

Burgers are very simple, but the addition of the may and slaw takes them up a notch. Very tasty and the textures work well together.

We loved these burgers! The mayo has great flavor and the slaw adds such great crunch. All of it together makes for a delicious and quick meal. This was an adventurous burger recipe for us, but we loved it.

So delicious! My husband and I enjoyed this as a special date-at-home meal and it was a hit. I made a few changes to the recipe to take advantage of products I already had on hand. http://stolenmomentscooking.com/east-meets-west-burgers/
