Salisbury Steak with Dilled Mashed Potatoes

Salisbury Steak & Dilled Mashed Potatoes Total recipe time: 25 minutes Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  3. 1/4 cup saltine cracker crumbs
  4. 1 egg white
  5. 2 tablespoons milk
  6. 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  9. 1 jar (12 ounces) mushroom gravy
    Dilled Mashed Potatoes:
  1. 1 package (22 ounces) frozen mashed potatoes
  2. 2-1/3 cups milk
  3. 1-1/2 teaspoons dried dill weed
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  6. 1/2 cup dairy sour cream

Instructions

  1. Combine potato ingredients except sour cream in 2-quart microwave-safe dish; cook according to package directions. For thicker potatoes, cook longer. Stir in sour cream.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients except gravy in medium bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Lightly shape into four 1/2-inch thick oval patties.
  3. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Place patties in skillet; cook 10 to 12 minutes, until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160°F, once. Remove.
  4. Add gravy to skillet; heat through. Serve over patties and potatoes.

My husband really enjoys his Salisbury Steak. This recipe "Rocks" He says!!! I however make my own gravy. Whenever I make a roast I save the [ AusJus 1 1/2 C's] I the add 1 jar including the juice from a large 14 oz jar of sliced button mushrooms. I then ADD 1/4 tsp of thyme, 1/4 tsp orgeano and salt & pepper and in 1C cold water I add 5 Tablsp's cornstarch mix well ad add to remaining ingredients , bring to boil and then at end of boiling, add 1/2 tsp onion salt & 1/4 tsp garlic salt or powder and then simmer gray mix til thickened to esired consistancy, porinto skillet and add back steaks and simmer 6 minutes more or til steak heated through and serve over potatoes and steaks.Excellent!
