Meet Alabama Cattleman Tray Thompson of Headland, Alabama. As a Marine Corps Veteran, Tray grew up on a 6,000 acre peanut and cotton farm. In 2019, Tray and his wife Shelby merged family farms and began raising cattle that her family proudly managed. Today, Hilllside Charolais runs 140 head over 180 acres just south of Troy in a town called Ariton, Alabama. Tray stays busy as a member of the beef checkoff-funded Young Cattlemen's Leadership Program Class VI, the chairman of the Dale County Young Farmers and as a YBS board member for Alabama Ag Credit.
Approximately half of the peanuts grown in the United States are grown within a 100-mile radius of Dothan, Alabama making it the "Peanut Capital of the World."
